Approach

In Chinese medicine, health is understood as interconnected

Symptoms that may seem unrelated can often be part of a broader pattern, offering insight into how the body is functioning as a whole.  At Valley Acupuncture, I see you as more than a set of symptoms. While the aim of your treatment is to ease the concerns that bring you in, I will also focus on supporting your body’s overall function and balance.

Each session is personalised to your individual presentation, and alongside acupuncture we may discuss simple lifestyle changes that can help support your wellbeing over time.  By looking at the bigger picture, we work together to encourage your body’s natural ability to restore harmony and promote long-term health.

What People Commonly Seek Acupuncture For

Many people come for acupuncture for support with a variety of health concerns.  While every treatment is tailored to the individual, some of the more common areas include:

  • Musculoskeletal health - back, neck and shoulder discomfort, joint pain, tension, stiffness, arthritis and general mobility concerns.

  • Optimising movement – supporting preparation, recovery, and performance in sport and physical activity.

  • Stress, sleep and emotional wellbeing - nervous tension, low mood, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, and general support for mental and emotional balance.

  • Women’s health - menstrual cycle support, symptoms of menopause, fertility support, pregnancy-related care (such as nausea or pre-birth preparation).

  • Digestive health - bloating, reflux, changes in bowel habits, and general digestive balance.

  • Respiratory health - hay fever, sinus issues, coughs, and general support for respiratory comfort.

  • Circulation and fluid balance - poor circulation, muscle cramps, fluid retention and related concerns.

  • Cosmetic Acupuncture - a natural, non-invasive way to support skin health and rejuvenation

  • General wellbeing - People also use acupuncture to support recovery, relaxation, and to maintain balance in day-to-day life.

At Valley Acupuncture, my mission is to help you feel better, recover from pain and illness, and support your long-term health and wellbeing.

Cupping therapy at Valley Acupuncture

Fire cupping involves placing warmed glass cups on the skin to create gentle suction. It can ease muscle tightness, support circulation and lymphatic flow, and encourage relaxation. Temporary circular marks may appear but usually fade within a few days.

Guasha at Valley Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture uses very fine, sterile needles placed at specific points to support the body’s natural balance.  Treatments are tailored to your individual needs and may help with pain, stress, sleep, and general wellbeing.  Many people find the process calming and restorative and even drift off to sleep.

 Acupuncture at Valley Acupuncture

Moxa uses the warming herb mugwort, held near the skin to gently warm specific areas. This traditional technique is often paired with acupuncture to support circulation, ease discomfort, and provide a sense of relaxation.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a gentle, natural therapy that uses very fine needles on the face and body. Treatments are tailored to support circulation, relaxation, and the body’s natural collagen response, while also addressing overall health and wellbeing.  Because cosmetic acupuncture works both locally and holistically, it’s about supporting inner balance as well as helping you feel refreshed on the outside.

Gua sha uses a smooth-edged tool drawn across the skin to release tension and support circulation. It may leave temporary marks that fade within days, but many people find it relieving and invigorating.

Hello!

Madeleine Chapman

Madeleine Chapman

Licensed Acupuncturist

I'm Madeleine (or Maddie/Mads) - registered Acupuncturist with the Australian Health Practitioner's Regulatory Authority (AHPRA) and the Australian Chinese Medicine Association of Australia (AACMA), holding a Bachelor of Health Scienct (Acupuncture).

I first discovered acupuncture on my journey to start a family, where it supported us through fertility challenges and loss.  The experience inspired a passion for Chinese medicine and its ability to restore balance, resilience, and well-being.  Women’s health issues are a focus for me, in addition to providing support for both chronic and acute pain.

As a former athlete (rowing), I have a strong interest in sports performance, recovery, and injury management.  I have Level 2 Sports Trainer Certification through the South Australian Sports Medicine Association (SASMA), and volunteer with our local football club, where I get to support athletes of different ages in their recovery from injury.

My approach is both evidence-informed and deeply rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, with a focus on personalised, hands-on care.

I am guided by Applied Channel Theory, where diagnosis includes detailed channel palpation — a method that helps reveal underlying patterns and allows for a more targeted treatment.

At the heart of my work is a genuine care to tailoring treatment towards helping you move well, feel well, and thrive!
